1. Go to Menu > Browse > Places tab and select the hard drive containing your samples.

2. Select a sample and tap the onscreen Load button. Repeat this for each sample you wish to use.

3. Go to Menu > Sounds > Edit Instrument > Samples tab.

4. In the Sample field, select a sample from the list you loaded in step 2.

5. Go to Menu > Sounds > Key Ranges and tap the blue box labeled "(unused)" to change it to "Track 01". The sample assigned in step 4 will now play when you press any key.

6. Tap the New Track button to create your next layer.

7. Return to Menu > Sounds > Edit Instrument > Samples tab and select a new sample for the Sample field.

8. In Menu > Sounds > Key Ranges, you'll notice that tapping Track 01 and pushing a key plays the sample from step 5, while tapping Track 02 and pushing a key plays the sound from step 7.

9. Hold the Shift key on your MPC and tap the record buttons next to each track so that they are both red. You will now notice that the tracks/samples are layed on top of each other when you press a key.

10. If you want to split the samples across your keyboard, double-tap Track 01 and set a note range in the top section of the popup window, determining where the layer starts and stops.

11. Double-tap Track 02 to set a note range for this track too.

12. Once you’ve set the note ranges for both tracks, their start and stop positions will be shown in the Key Ranges screen, as seen in the image below...

Simply play your keyboard from here onwards to enjoy the split sound feature with your own samples!
