The audio inputs featured on your MPC standalone console expect to receive a line-level signal which is greater than the instrument-level signal that an electric guitar produces.

If you are using an electric guitar that has loud pickups, such as hotrails or humbuckers, an acoustic with an active pickup, or a bass guitar you will be able to connect it directly to the MPC, however, if you are using standard single coil pickups, you may need to add a preamp between your guitar and MPC; this will boost the signal level of your guitar.

To record your guitar on any MPC standalone console, please follow the steps below...

1. Connect the output of your guitar or preamp to the 1/4" L input on the back panel of your MPC.

2. Create a new empty project.

3. Click the '+ New Track' button in the bottom left corner of the display, then select "Audio".

4. Tap the left channel strip on the far left side of the Main screen to expand it and view your input and output options.

5. Tap the I/O tab.

6. Ensure Monitor is set to Auto, and Audio In is set to Input 1.

7. Strum your guitar and you should now hear it through your MPC console.

8. To add overdrive or FX to your guitar signal, tap the FX tap under your channel strip, then tap an empty space on the 'Inserts' box.

9. Hit the record and play buttons, then rock on!
