In addition to being standalone software, MPC Beats also operates as a plugin.

You can use preset mappings built into the MPC plugin to effortlessly map your MIDI controller to your favorite software instruments by opening MPC Beats from within your chosen DAW.

Please follow the instructions below to use MPC Beats as a plugin; I've used Logic Pro in this example, but the procedure is essentially the same for any DAW.

1. Create an instrument track within your DAW.

2. Select MPC Beats from an empty plugin insert space.

3. Open the MIDI Learn panel, activate the ENABLE button, then select your MIDI controller from the drop down menu.

The MIDI Learn panel can be opened by pressing CTRL + Shift + L for Windows, or Command + Shift + L for Mac OS. You can also follow the gif below.

4. Now that the mapping for your controller is selected, you will be able to use it to compose a track. To find out how to load software instruments in MPC Beats, please CLICK HERE.

5. Once finished, click the Export Audio button in the top-right corner of MPC Beats, then click and drag it onto an audio track in your DAW to commit your composition as an audio file.

To export as MIDI, please use the Export MIDI button located to the right of the Export Audio button.

Note: If you are using Windows and need to manually add MPC Beats to your DAW's plugin folder, you can find the .dll file by going to the following folder path...

C: Drive > Program Files > Steinburg > VST Plugins
