Akai Pro MPC Series | Setting Up Multiple MIDI Controllers in a Project


In this guide, we will cover the steps to configure multiple USB MIDI controllers to use on individual tracks in your project.


1. First, connect your USB MIDI controllers to your MPC's USB-B ports. Note: If you are using an MPC One or One+, you will need a powered USB hub for additional USB connection options.


Once connected, you will see the devices appear in the MIDI / Sync menu (Menu > Preferences > MIDI / Sync)


2. The next step is to configure your controllers Input and Output ports as demonstrated with the MPK mini Play mk3 & LPD8 mk2 below:




3. Head over to Main Mode, create a new MIDI track and open the channel strip (Eye icon):




4. Tap on the Track icon (three-bars) and select your 1st controller in MIDI Input. Ensure that MIDI channel 1 is also selected:



5. Repeat the same steps for your second controller:



6. Head over to Track View, hold Shift and tap the Record-Arm icons on both tracks. Also ensure that both tracks are set to the Auto monitor state:
