When producing music with Akai MPC2 software or MPC Beats, you may find that you are using up space on your internal drive for your Windows or Mac computers, which could be also causing your system to slow down or worse, crash.
The best way to combat this will be to have an external drive for all of your audio samples, projects and plugin libraries so that you can keep your internal drive as clean and organised as possible. This will also help with the CPU processing.
Note: If the route directory file is changed, this can cause issues to the projects and you may need to re-direct samples to the new location.
Note: Some plugins and content are only able to be installed onto the internal drive and will not be able to be moved. This information can be found on the product pages for either software, expansion or audio content.

Below are some example formats for external drives which are most commonly used. This will be dependent on the size of the storage device you are using.
External Drive Formats:
exFAT - is the successor to FAT32, and addresses FAT32's biggest limitations: file and drive sizes. FAT32 can't handle partitions larger than 8TB, or files larger than 4GB, whereas exFAT can handle files and partitions up to 128 petabytes, which is 128,000 terabytes.
FAT32 - is the 32-bit version of the file allocation table (FAT) file system. A file system specifies the protocol for storing and organizing data on a hard drive with file names and certain permissions.
