Do I need MPC3 to install Native Instrument Expansion Packs?

Yes - Native Instruments Expansion Packs are not compatible with MPC2 Firmware and require MPC3.

I already own Maschine versions of NI Expansion Packs, can I still redeem them for my MPC?

No - NI Expansion Packs for MPC Hardware are exclusive editions specifically built for MPC3 Hardware and need to be purchased separately on the Native Instruments store: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/catalog/


Users who already own Maschine versions of expansion packs are not eligible for a free upgrade to MPC Edition builds of these plugins. 


Does my MPC Require storage to download/install NI Expansion packs?

Yes - In most cases, the internal storage of MPC Hardware will not be large enough to download/install your NI Expansion Packs. 


MPC hardware supports read and write capability for exFAT, FAT32, NTFS, and EXT4 file systems as well as read-only capability for HFS+ file systems. (We recommend using an exFAT file system as it is the most robust one supported by both Windows and macOS.


Do I need an internet connection to activate/install NI Expansion packs?

Yes, a stable internet connection is required to download your expansion pack from a Windows or Mac computer via the inMusic Software Center. 


Over-the-air download is not currently available directly from your MPC Hardware.   


Are MPC Edition NI Expansion packs available for MPC Desktop?

No - MPC Edition NI Expansion packs are only available for Standalone. 


MPC3 on standalone hardware is backwards compatible with MPC2.15.1 Desktop - Upon navigating to controller mode operation with your Windows or Mac computer, we suggest exporting your Drum Programs, Samples or similar as an audio file.

Is Akai Force Compatible? 

No - Akai Force currently does not support Native Instrument Expansion Packs. 


Can I redeem via Native Access?

No - The code you receive from Native Instruments post-sale is not available to redeem via Native Access.


Your purchase is exclusively available only for MPC OS Hardware and is redeemed directly via the inMusic Software Center. 


I'm experiencing an issue activating my Expansion Pack via inMusic Software Center, who should I contact for assistance?

Akai Pro / inMusic Support is available to assist concerning any issues associated with activating your MPC Edition NI Expansion Packs.

Purchasing your Native Instruments Expansion Pack


  1. Visit the Native Instruments site to purchase the expansion pack
  2. Add MPC Edition Expansion Pack to the cart
  3. Checkout
  4. Receive order confirmation email
  5. Follow the instructions in this confirmation email containing your serial number

Setup Instructions

Redemption / Download

  1. Create an inMusic Profile account
  2. Download & Install the inMusic Software Center
  3. After the download completes, it will open up the inMusic Software Center



  4. Click on Let's Go! Your default browser window will open prompting to sign into your inMusic Profile. Enter both your email address and password and click on "SIGN IN"
  5. You have successfully logged in to the inMusic Software Center.
  6. Launch the inMusic Software Center from your Computer
  7. For new users, click 'Start Here'
    • For existing users, click 'Add Product'
  8. Click 'Software' and paste the 30-Digit code from your Native Instrument confirmation email
  9. Click 'Add' from the bottom right of your Window - Your Expansion will register successfully
  10. Click Continue
  11. Click the 'My Expansions' Tab
  12. Click 'Download' for your new Expansion(s)
  13. Once the download has been completed, click 'Show In Folder'
  14. File Explorer (Windows) OR Finder (Mac) will launch to display the contents of your Expansion
  15. Follow the installation instructions in this folder

Installation


  1. Select the drive where you want to install the content. Make sure that the drive has enough free space to hold the entire pack. We recommend that you choose an internal SATA drive for ease of use.
  2. Connect the selected drive to your computer
    • Note: Internal MPC SATA drives can connect to your computer by putting your MPC into 'Controller mode'.
  3. Create a folder in the root directory of the drive (not in any folder) called Expansions, if one does not already exist.
  4. Place the content folder inside the Expansions directory you created. Make sure you copy the folder itself, not the content within it.
  5. Wait for the files to copy, and then safely eject the drive to ensure all data is written.
  6. Insert the drive into your MPC. Your expansion will appear in the browser, under the 'expansions' tab as seen in the screenshot below:
