The MPC Studio second generation model is an update to the original MPC Studio which was first released in 2012 and operated solely as a dedicated hardware controller for the first editions of the MPC desktop software.
Just like its predecessor, the 2nd Gen MPC Studio is specifically designed to operate with the included MPC desktop software.
The key distinction with the 2nd Gen MPC Studio is that, while it does not directly integrate with third-party software, it's new version of the MPC Desktop software functions as a plugin wrapper which is compatible with virtually any DAW.
The MPC plugin wrapper can be opened from inside of your chosen DAW which will allow the MPC Studio to control all of your favourite software instruments in your project. Your MPC compositions can be exported as an audio file to be inserted into your DAW's audio track.
To see the MPC plugin wrapper running with Logic Pro, please watch the video below and notice how the MPC groove is committed as an audio track in Logic at 3:30.
To summarize, the MPC Studio is indirectly compatible with virtually any DAW; this is achieved through the use of the MPC plugin.
